NZ Joomla Community has had it's first JoomlaDay.

Shayne Bartlett
Shayne is the Treasurer of Open Source Matters Opensourcematters.org
and a Core Team Member of Joomla! with the position of Project Manager : Foundation Working Group Coordinator. Shane is an expat Kiwi enjoyed coming home for a visit! Shanyne shared some insider knowledge on how the Joomla! project is funded and organised.
Andrew Eddie
Andrew is one of the three Lead Developers on the Joomla project You can read more about Andrews return to the Joomla Project here . Andrew is a full time Joomla Developer and currently working on a range of awsome Joomla 1.5 extensions that you see at Rocketwerx.com. Andrews business site is Newlifeinit.com and his Developer Magazine can be found here http://www.theartofjoomla.com. Andrew shared what changed had been made in Joomla 1.5 and where the future of Joomla development is heading.
We also heard from:
Paul Gutch of Joomla.co.nz about his recently launched JoomlaLMS.co.nz , the new Joomla Learning Management System for NZ schools and business training. Also a quick look at Virtuemart powered SmokeAlarm.co.nz
Nygllhuw Morris from Kiwiwebs.co.nz shared why Joomla is the CMS of choice for his clients. We saw how Joomla is used on a wide variety of his client sites and heard why Joomla is playing a big part in the growth of Kiwiwebs with the 300th Joomla based site approaching fast.
Mark Osborne form BlackKnight Graphics shared how the new features of 1.5 will be invaluable in the creation of cutomised templates for his clients. Mark has also developed some custom extentions that he hopes to be able to release to the community in the near future.
More than anything this was a great networking opportunity and the start of a vibrant Joomla Community in New Zealand.
